Our Vision

The Indian American Surgical Association (IASA), founded in 2013, strives to develop a platform for promoting excellence in surgical care, research, education, and service oriented projects in India and the United States. Membership is open to anyone who has interest in advancing surgical care in India and the United States.

The primary mission of the Association is to provide an international forum for presenting the developing state of the art and science of general and sub-specialty surgery, and the elevation of the standards of the medical/surgical profession. This mission is accomplished primarily by conducting an annual scientific meeting consisting of selected presentations containing the most current information available on clinical and research topics related to surgery or surgical specialties, including outcomes, surgical practice, and ethical and other issues that affect its practice.

In addition, the IASA serves to advance surgical care in India through research, training and development, and collaborative undertakings. The Annual meeting of the IASA is designed to bring together surgeons who share the mission of the organization and to promote its ideals.

One of the major projects the IASA is working on is in Prehospital Care. We have created a multidisciplinary approach in providing quality care to trauma victims. Teams are comprised of trauma surgeons, education and mass communication experts, multimedia, information technology, health economics, social engineering experts as well as local police and traffic officials. This education protocol is a paradigm shift in system development to exponentially build capacity and disseminate quality education to millions of first responders using robust and technical feedback methods.  The IASA aims to train over 500,000 first responders over the next 5-7 years.
